The Playoffs - The Revenge

THE TEAM actually lost to Vicious N Delicious in the first round.  I am certain they are a swell bunch once you get to know them but come on!  Nobody likes a sore loser (except Lou) but there is no way THE TEAM should have hung only 10 runs on those turtles.

Well lucky lucky universe THE TEAM got another shot at them and didn't waste a thing.

The defense was strong.  The hitting was sweet (.660).  The base running was spectacular.  That's detail that gets overlooked (except for Dora who has always been a crafty base runner),  THE TEAM was aggressive on the bases but still smart smart smart.

Dave did his thang pitching and also went 4 for 4 with a Double and 3 RBIs.  Peter went 4 for 4 with a Double and 2 RBIs.  Lou went 5 for 5 with 2 Doubles and Triple and 4 RBIs.  Aerial went 4 for 5 with a Double and 2 RBIs.  Kelly went 3 for 5 with an RBI.  Eleven players played and 10 and RBIs.

They had to dust off the Mercy Rule.

THE TEAM wins 22-8 and moves on to the Championship.

Fall 2014

THE TEAM dropped the first game of a Doubleheader by hitting a season low .400 and adding some bone-headed defense into that bouillabaisse.  Tough loss.  The defense was properly snug for game 2 so THE TEAM finished the season 7-3.  Sweet Victory.  There were Home Runs by Victor and Lou.  There were some great plays in the outfield by Aerial and Victor.  Let's get to your season stats.

1 Aerial played in 9 games.  She hit .567 with 7 RBIs, 4 Doubles, 3 Walks and the first Home Run by a lady in the history of THE TEAM.  She was never a smart ass

3 Lou played in 8 games.  He hit .750 with 4 Doubles and a Walk.  He led THE TEAM with 3 Home Runs, led THE TEAM with 27 RBIs and led THE TEAM with 8 Triples.  Another spectacular season from Santini.

8 Maddie played in 2 games.  She did not get a hit but she worked a walk for an OBP of .167 and scored a run.  She is a solid kid

10 Melody played in 9 games.  She hit .560 with 9 RBIs, 4 Doubles and led THE TEAM with 7 Walks.  She kept it very positive.

12 Natasha played in 7 games.  She hit .500 with 6 RBIs, 1 Double and 4 Walks.  She was a lights out pitcher and all kinds of hustle.  It's great to have her back

15 Natalia played in 10 games.  She hit .280 with 4 RBIs, 2 Doubles and 5 Walks.  She played hard and keeps improving with every game.

18 Rick 10 games .656, 16 RBIs, 5 Doubles, 2 Walks

19 Doug played in 8 games.  He hit .654 with 11 RBIs, 1 Home Run, 4 Doubles, 2 Triples and 4 Walks and with his hat flying off of his head

24 Peter played in 10 games.  He led THE TEAM hitting .778.  He also had 20 RBIs, 2 Home Runs, 6 Doubles, 2 Triples and 3 Walks.  A nickname was selected for Peter at the BBQ.  Does anybody remember what it was?

25 Dora played in 10 games.  She led the ladies hitting .656.  She also led the ladies with 13 RBIs.  There were two walks in there and her smart base running.

27 Victor played in 8 games.  He hit .615 with 20 RBIs, 2 Home Runs, 1 Triple, 2 Walks and led THE TEAM with 7 Doubles.  He let everybody know he was playing team ball this season and by team ball he meant lots and lots of f-words

30 Kelly played in 10 games.  She hit .406 with 9 RBIs, 1 Double and 1 Walk.  She was a very valuable infielder and did a great job and first base and third base.  It's great that she is back with THE TEAM

38 Dave played in 9 games.  He hit .643 with 8 RBIs, 1 Double and 3 Walks.  THE TEAM needed a pitcher and Dave has delivered.  Good Morning Dave.

THE TEAM also has to thank Rosemary and Jimmy for helping out when we were short.  You will get a t-shirt when THE TEAM wins the championship.

The playoffs are next week!

Game 8 - Time for Heroin

Beer Pairing Tips from Stella Artois

THE TEAM won game number 6 of the season.  No matter how the season finishes, the winning season is in the bag.  The joke has always been to celebrate with Chris Kiefer Heroin after win number six but everybody knows the secret potion.

Lou went 4 for 4 with a Home Run.  Peter made freakin' history with a Triple play.  Melody went 4 for 4 with 3 Doubles and 4 RBIs.

THE TEAM went 0 for 0 on comments so this is all the blog there wil........

Game 6 - Good Morning

It is difficult to look at this picture and not imagine the graphic moment that has been photo shopped over and over again by replacing that microphone.  It is not unlike the first two innings of the game last Sunday.

Hot Sunday 8 THE TEAM 0.  It was the slowest of starts.

It took a genuine team effort to climb out of the hole.  THE TEAM was workmanlike and did not give up.  Nine of the 12 players had hits and 10 players had at least 1 RBI.  There were only four extra base hits and no Home Runs.  It was just a nice collective effort.

THE TEAM was steroid worthy as a whole but let's tip our sombreros to Natasha who didn't walk anybody and drove in a run.  Natasha to the rescue.  THE TEAM had to do it without the third base coach because Jimmy finally got to show everybody that he can play.  Jimmy went 2 for 4 with an RBI and made third base look easy.

I'M THE KING OF THE WORLD !!!!

Is that the wrong Leonardo DiCaprio movie?

Who gives a shit

The First Round

THE TEAM split a doubleheader to end the first round with a record of 3-2.  There is a lot to be happy about though.  Everybody is improving and playing smart.  There is lots of hustle out there.  It is big fun.

Highlights and steroids are hard to nail down in the roasty toasty dusty tornado of a doubleheader.  Kelly made a great play to catch a foul ball.  Peter hit for the cycle in game 2.  Dave pitched a lot of innings.

The lab results are in and you should probably eat less bacon.  Beyond that THE TEAM scored 81 runs and allowed 59 so that's a positive.  THE TEAM hit .620 with 17 Doubles, 9 Triples, 4 Home Runs, 12 Walks and only 3 Strikeouts.

Let's look at the Leaders at the half way point

Batting Average (Gentlemen)

.850 Peter
.833 Victor
.765 Lou

Batting Average (Ladies)

.667 Dora
.556 Aerial
.545 Melody

RBIs (Gentlemen)

15 Lou
13 Victor
10 Peter

RBIs (Ladies)

6 Kelly
6 Dora
5 Aerial

Doubles

Peter 4
Victor 3
Lou 2
Rick 2
Doug 2
Aerial 1
Melody 1
Kelly 1
Dave 1

Triples

Lou 5
Peter 2
Doug 1
Victor 1

Home Runs

Peter 1
Victor 1
Doug 1
Aerial 1

The lab results are in and they are growing a human ear on the back of a mouse.  It is fucking disgusting.  Beyond that THE TEAM looks sharp with the two losses being by two runs and one run.  Jimmy is holding down the third base coaching duties.  Dave, Natasha and Lou are doing a great job pitching.  The lab results are in and THE TEAM = a dangerous bunch.

Game 3 - Thin

THE TEAM recovered nicely from the bizzarro loss last week.  Overall THE TEAM is playing well.  There are no clustered errors.  Dave and Natasha are doing a fantastic job pitching.  Everybody is hitting.  In three games THE TEAM is hitting .640 with 11 Doubles, 6 Triples, 3 Home Runs, 8 Walks and only 3 Strikeouts.  The last couple of seasons have been rough so it's nice to get away from Kill Bill horseshit and back to Pulp Fiction.

A League of Their Own was spread thin with only 8 players in the field but in the past THE TEAM has found a way to still lose in that setup.  Sometimes it is distracting to see all that open space.

Not this time.

Eleven players played and eleven players had hits.  Eight players had RBIs.  Doug hit a 3 run Home Run.  Lou had 2 Triples and 2 RBIs.  Aerial went 4 for 4 with an RBI.  The game ended on a nice Double Play.  Peter stomped on third for one out and threw it to Kelly at first who had to leave the bag to make the catch but still managed to tag the runner.

Ball Game!

Right?  That's it right?  I want to leave off Victor's Grand Slam because he gets so tense if his caboose is not properly smooched.  There was a meeting with Roger Goodell and he thinks everything Victor does is fine.  Well OK then.

It was a genuine power shot into left so Victor gets a Sacramento RiverCats souvenir helmet full of nachos and steroids.

Natasha had a steroid-worthy game going 2 for 3 with an RBI.  She let her kindness and freakin' humanity get the best of her and coached up one of the players from the other team.  Kelly drove in two runs and did a great job at first base.  Let's give Kelly the steroids this week.  They are just straight steroids that Kelly herself can bake into exquisite cupcakes.  Save one for Jimmy.  He has been a big help even if he doesn't talk to anybody.

THE TEAM gets the third out and reaches for the bats and this lanky specter wearing #33 materializes in the coaching box.  He is like Bigfoot or something.

Well, it is working

Game 2 - *

That was one weird-assed loss.  THE TEAM scored 8 in the first inning after holding Where My Pitches At to a plump zero.  It looked like THE TEAM took their foot off the gas after that.  THE TEAM avoided being weighed down by any more pesky runs for the next 4 innings.

Of course the runs kept piling up for the bad guys at it looked like the game was over but there was a weird-assed rally for 10 runs in the bottom of the 6th.

It was still a 20-18 weird-assed loss.

THE TEAM hit .605 with 3 Doubles, 1 Triple, 1 Home Run, 6 Walks and ZERO Strikeouts.  That's pretty nice but let's talk about that Home Run.

In 20 seasons THE TEAM has never had a lady hit a Home Run.  Aerial finally did it and she doesn't even have a nickname.  It was great hustle and all of Burbank was appropriately electrified.

Clearly the highlight of a weird-assed afternoon.

Game 1 - Fresh from the Oven

After several last minute bailouts by several players, the roster is finally set for Fall 2014.  THE TEAM got younger and that's probably a good thing.

1 Aerial
3 Lou
8 Maddie
10 Melody
12 Natasha
15 Natalia
18 Rick
19 Doug
24 Peter
25 Dora
27 Victor
30 Kelly
38 Dave

Each name on that roster is a stone cold assassin.  Each name on that roster also dropped 10 pounds of water weight in game 1 because it was hot as hell.

It's hard to imagine that games were being played at 1:00 and 2:15 in that weather.  How was there not a trail of dehydrated softball players leading out to the parking lot?  Just hop over that carcass that's left over from the B League Doubleheaders.

Anyway

THE TEAM looked sharp hitting .667.  There were a couple of errors but no real disasters so THE TEAM beats Hot Sunday 19-13.  It's been a year since THE TEAM won a season opener.

A dog bowl full of steroids goes to Lou who went 4 for 4 with 2 Doubles, a Triple and 5 RBIs.

A champagne flute full steroids could go to Natalia who went 2 for 3 with and RBI, or Kelly who went 2 for 3 with an RBI, but it goes to Aerial who 3 for 3 with an RBI.  That was close

Summer 2014

Who would have thought that an 0-5 edition of THE TEAM could be playoff worthy by going down one step to G League.  That happened.  It happened because of the following:

1 Aerial played in 9 games.  She led the ladies hitting .655.  She had 5 RBIs, 3 Doubles and 2 walks.  She was fast and was a real smart ass throughout the season.

3 Lou played in 9 games.  He led THE TEAM hitting .800.  He led THE TEAM with 2 Home Runs.  He led THE TEAM with 5 Doubles.  He led THE TEAM with 4 Triples.  That's a lot out of one dude

4 Jenny played in 4 games.  Jenny wrapped up her farewell season by hitting .222 with 2 RBIs, 1 Double and 2 walks giving an OBP of .364.  Jenny is a flexible player, a reasonable person and a founding member of THE TEAM.  It's a drag to see her go.

7 Heather played in one game.  She batted .000 with a walk.  She knocked out of the park when it was time to bail out on games at the last minute

10 Melody played in 8 games.  She hit .421 with 3 RBIs and 3 Doubles.  She led THE TEAM in walks giving her an OBP of .621.  She was great at second base and great in the outfield.

14 Sharon played in 4 games.  She hit .300 with 1 RBI.  She kept it pleasant when she was around.

15 Natalia played in 7 games.  She hit .250 with 1 RBI.  Natalia hustled and improved a lot during her first season with THE TEAM

18 Rick 9 games .654 8 RBIs 3 Doubles 1 Triple 2 walks

19 Doug played in 8 games.  He blew up this season hitting .783.  He had 11 RBIs, 4 Doubles and 2 Walks.  He caught all of 'em in left field.

24 Peter played in 9 games.  He hit .567.  Peter led THE TEAM with 19 RBIs.  He usually does.  He also had a Home Run, 2 Doubles and 2 Triples.  Peter knows what the hell he is doing.

25 Dora played in 9 games.  She led the ladies with 10 RBIs.  Dora also had 4 Doubles.  She 0 walks and 0 strikeouts.  Dora knows what the hell she is doing

27 Victor played in 4 games.  He hit .545 with 1 RBI, 2 Double and 1 Triples.  He made the noise of 10 little league teams living off of Frosted Flakes.

38 Dave played in 9 games.  He hit .583 with 8 RBIs, 3 Doubles and 2 Walks.  Dave got back into the groove of softball and became more dangerous as the season went on.

THE TEAM has to thank 30 Kelly and 12 Natasha for helping out.

The playoffs await

Game 7 - 100 Wins

No Glove No Love raw dogged it on THE TEAM for a 17-7 victory in the first round.  In keeping with all the steroid talk on this blog, we are not here to talk about the past.
Sexual Chocolate!
The game was tight.  THE TEAM was down 3-0 after the first inning.  THE TEAM played solid defense and chipped away spending most of the game with a 6-4 lead.  There were minimal errors and a lot of smart base running along the way.  Things got wobbly in the top of the 6th but THE TEAM rallied and won 9-8. That's 100 wins in the history of THE TEAM.

Sweet Victory

Lou went 3 for 3 with a Double, a Triple and 2 RBIs.  Doug went 3 for 3 with a Double and 2 RBIs.  The steroids go to Dave who pitched a great game and went 2 for 2 including a base loaded Double that drove in 3 runs.

Let's give some steroids to Kelly who went 1 for 3 with an RBI in the late rally.  She has been a great sub when THE TEAM has needed her.  It's also such a kind thing how she takes off her jersey and folds it to give back after the game .  Decency runs in that family.

Game 6 - It is Both Official and Constructive

THE TEAM sure couldn't get out of F League fast enough.
Sexual Chocolate!

It was one of those great games where 11 players played, 11 players had a hit and 10 players had at least one RBI.  There was great pitching by Natasha and Dave.  There was even a point where Hot Sunday had the bases loaded and no outs but THE TEAM was able to get out of the jam without allowing any runs. That is some Barry Bonds level of steroids.

Acknowledging outstanding achievement in such a game is a challenge.  Lou hit a Home Run.  Peter went 3 for 4 with a base clearing Triple and 4 RBIs.  Let's give steroid tacos with cheese to Dave who went 4 for 4 with a Double and 2 RBIs.

Natasha bailed THE TEAM out again coming in to sub.  Sharon played through the pain.  Aerial limped to a 4 for 5 day with a Double and an RBI.  Dora went 4 for 5 with 2 Doubles and 3 RBIs.  Something was probably hurting on her too.  Let's give her some of those Dodger Stadium Choco Tacos.  Better yet Sexual Choco Tacos.  "That boy can sang!"

Game 5 - F U League

There was a similar post after the first round of last season.  THE TEAM was led to slaughter in E League and looking forward to more realistic competition in F League.  This time THE TEAM is through turning into the skid of F League and ready to just fishtail off the highway down into G League.

Sounds like fun.

THE TEAM was lookin' good against Water Tower Productions.  It was 5-2 and then it was 5-3 and then there was a blizzard of line drives.  Old and young alike were united in their vision of smooching line drives through the infield or plopping them in front of the outfielders.  Assholes.

Anyway

Lets look at the leaders after the first round

Batting Average (Gentlemen)

.909  Doug
.813  Lou
1.000 Victor because he went 3 for 3 in the one game he played in

Batting Average (Ladies)

.643  Aerial
.556  Melody
.467  Dora

RBIs (Gentlemen)

8  Peter
4  Doug
3  Lou
3  Rick

RBIs (Ladies)

5  Dora
3  Aerial
2  Melody

Doubles

4  Lou
3  Rick
2  Melody
2  Doug
2  Dora
1  Aerial
1  Victor
1  Dave

Triples

3  Lou
1  Rick

Home Runs

1  Peter

So that was real and officially recorded here in the blog of record.  There have been encouraging moments in the first round and THE TEAM is clearly athletic enough to win a few in any league if there were some form of consistency in focus and attendance.

Double Catastrophe

THE TEAM got swept in a Doubleheader.  It feels like 2008 all over again.  THE TEAM can't seem to move forward.  There are moments that things look good and players are making plays and then everybody climbs on a missile straight to bloody hell.

Or course it's all recreational.  It's supposed to be fun and it is but it is even more fun to win.  Maybe it's time to lower expectations.  Maybe it's time to start drinking BEFORE games.  Enough of all this hissing and cursing and screaming helpful playing tips at each other.

Moving on to the good news:

Um...

Peter hit a Home Run.

G League is in our future.  There must be some pile of slobs out there that THE TEAM can hand it to.

Game 2 - Some Kind of Nightmare

THE TEAM improved a lot from Game 1.  11 Players played and 10 had hits.  THE TEAM hit .677 with 5 Doubles, 2 Triples and 3 walks.  These are certainly steps in the right direction but losing to a team that only had 8 players on the field is a real kick in the tits.

Let's not focus on gloom and doom.

Comic Relief torched a lot grounders right up the middle and nobody could get to them.  THE TEAM stooged it up with more than enough errors but there were plenty of hits that nobody on any team could have defended.

Natalia got her first hit of the season

Lou hit two triples

Aerial's hair was magnificent

It's not all gloom and doom

Game 1 - Right Where We Left Off

Remember how bad last season sucked?  You don't have to remember because THE TEAM relived the experience in HD 3D 1080p.  First let's look at the roster:

1 Aerial
3 Lou
4 Jenny
7 Heather
10 Melody
14 Sharon
15 Natalia
18 Rick
19 Doug
24 Peter
25 Dora
27 Victor
38 Dave

That certainly looks like a group that can score more than 2 runs.  Who knows.  Maybe THE TEAM needs to examine the Ralph problem.  Ralph is the left-handed pitcher who THE TEAM has crossed paths with many times through the years.  Of course it is always with a different team name ( Remember Can U Dig It? ).  THE TEAM never hits well against him.  Maybe he should be murdered.  Maybe that's why they are always changing the name of their team.  It keeps them under the radar and Ralph lives on to see another day.

Who knows

It wasn't all bad news.  Aerial made some flashy plays at third.  Melody was great in the infield and the outfield and drove in a run.  Jenny went 1 for 2 and drove in the other run.  Lou had the only extra-base hit of the evening going 3 for 4.  Sharon's dogs were nice.

There is still a lot of softball left and lots of promise to build on.  There is also sunshine and fun and postgame drinks and laughs at Timmy Nolan's.  So...

Who knows

Winter 2014 - Almost the Worst Season Ever

That is probably not the most positive title for a blog post especially since THE TEAM wrapped up the season by opening a can on Balls & Dolls.  Everybody was killing it in Game 10.  Eleven players played, Eleven players had at least two hits.  Ten players had RBIs.  There was sizzling defense, big fun, and of course...

Sweet Victory

Let's check out your stats:

1 Aerial played in 4 games.  She batted .500 with 2 RBIs.  No walks no strikeouts, just wheels and hustle and the full timbre of her podcasting voice.

3 Lou played in 9 games.  He hit .742 with 10 RBIs.  He had a Home Run, 5 Doubles and led THE TEAM with 5 Triples.  Lou has to be pretty fast to hit 5 Triples.  He also led THE TEAM in...  instruction.

4 Jenny played in 5 games.   She batted .188 with 4 RBIs.  She did a good job when THE TEAM needed her at first base.  She showed a great arm underneath the cardigan sweater.

7 Heather played in 7 games.  She batted .304 with 3 RBIs and two walks giving an OBP of .360.  Heather improved all season and showed great hands at third base.

10 Melody played in 6 games.  She hit .412 with 4 RBIs and a Double.  She led THE TEAM with 5 walks giving her an OBP of .545.  She great at second base and she was spectacular in the outfield.

14 Sharon played in 4 games.  She batted .571 with 3 RBIs a double and a walk.  She ran, she threw, she caught the ball.  Sharon is very athletic.  I would hate to fight her.

18 Rick 10 games .750 12 RBIs 1 Home Run 4 Doubles

19 Doug played in 10 games.  He hit .440 with 12 RBIs, 4 Doubles,  a Triple and 4 Walks.  He overcame a slow start and hit .769 in the second round.

24 Peter played in 10 games.  He hit .743 and led THE TEAM with 23 RBIs.  He led THE TEAM with 7 Home Runs.  He led THE TEAM with 7 Doubles.  He has all the tools to go along with being a pillar of decency.

25 Dora played in all 10 games of course.  Dora batted .538 leading the ladies with 21 hits.  All of those hits were shots down the third base line to go along with some sneaky base running.  She had 7 RBIs, 3 Doubles and 2 Walks.  That's an OBP of .561.

27 Fuckin' Victor played in 9 games.  They were a noisy and profane 9 games that would make Kent Murphy himself shrink in horror.  Through all the racket, Victor batted .607 with 18 RBIs, 2 Home Runs, 6 Doubles, 2 Triples and a Walk.  So the peels of f-words are worth it.

38 Jeff played in 6 games.  He hit .438 with 6 RBIs a Double and a Walk.  He ran well and stayed cheerful through a brutal season.  Jeff is going to get married so let's break Jeff down from a fundamental standpoint.  Jeff was with THE TEAM for 4 seasons.  He played in 24 games hitting .479.  He had 23 RBIs with 4 Doubles and 3 Walks.  There were some great clutch moments along the way.

12 Natasha is leaving to marry the Jeff.  That sucks!  Not that they are getting married, it sucks that she is leaving THE TEAM.  For Winter 2014 Natasha played in 8 games.  She batted .467, led the ladies with 8 RBIs.  She had 2 Doubles and 4 Walks giving her an OBP of .529.  Natasha was an A League pitcher with an A League attitude and she is going to be missed.  THE TEAM has been spoiled for 6 seasons.  Let's go ahead and look at Natasha's dazzling career.  She played in 48 games.  She batted .500 with 44 RBIs, 13 Doubles, 4 Triples and 15 Walks giving her an OBP of .541.  There is no clipboard for pitching but everybody knows the numbers would be awesome.

THE TEAM also got some great contributions from our subs.

21 Mike played in 3 games hitting .833 with 5  RBIs and a Double.

30 Kelly played in 2 games hitting .667 with 2 RBIs and a Walk

2 Yesenia had a walk after she took off her earrings.

Overall the season was a toiletbowl full of nightmares but there was still lots of hustle and lots of effort and a lot of improvement.  That means there is still a lot to look forward to when Summer gets here.

Game 6 - Finally

THE TEAM finally won one.  Oh Sweet Victory, we have missed you so.  The game started off looking like another Sunday of Basura Grande.  The first inning ended with THE TEAM behind 7-0.  THE TEAM had one single and one strikeout.

Blood and Spit are not a bad team but they spent the first round clubbing baby seals in G League while THE TEAM was getting the full penitentiary shower treatment in E League.  Still, losing can teach a group how to go right on losing when winning makes you believe you are entitled to your victories.  That is the thing that was so thrilling about the game.  THE TEAM never gave up.  Ten players played and ten players had hits.  Eight players had at least one RBI.

THE TEAM 18 Blood and Spit 11 and the slump is broken.

Melody was a sandwich-worthy hero.  The 2 walks, 2 sacrifices and 2 RBIs certainly helped but she was spectacular in the outfield.  That included one of those shoe string jobs that she made look routine.

Peter's batting average was misrepresented in the last blog post.  In Game 6 he went 3 for 4 with a walk and had his batting average actually drop to .857.  The sandwich for Peter is obviously SALAMI.  Peter put the game out of reach with a Grand Slam is his last at-bat.

There was a base clearing double by Victor.  There was a double play by Doug.  There was a 3 for 5  day at the plate to go with Natasha's great pitching.

It's fun to have so much to be excited about.

Somehow scoring 8 runs in a loss to The Dancing Homers is an E Ticket.  THE TEAM should have ridden the freakin' Matterhorn instead of going 0-5.  It all finally came to an end with a 19-6 loss to The Office Bar and Grill.  Hopefully Lou is OK.  He started off the game with a Home Run but ended in a heap.  THE TEAM will need him now that there will be more realistic games in F League.  Dora went 3 for 4 with an RBI.  That was Dora's 100th career hit.  Somebody should have grabbed that ball.

Here are leaders after the First Round:

Batting Average

THE TEAM - #14 Sharon

THE TEAM got swept in a Doubleheader.  THE TEAM is 0-4.  That sucks.  A few things didn't suck.  Natasha's 5 RBIs against No Glove No Love was magnificent.  Dora went 4 for 5 with an RBI against The Swingers.  Heather made some tough plays at third.  Peter hit another Home Run.  Other than that...   Chupendous!

Way back in 2009 everybody on THE TEAM answered some questions to be posted on this here blog.  That means there are 9 current players who have never bared their very souls in the effort to have THE TEAM get better acquainted.

First up   Sharon

How did you end up on THE TEAM ?

Lou, the unofficial recruiter, worked his wiley ways and somehow convinced me to play a game I hadn't played in 20 years with a bunch of strangers who had won the championship the year before... No pressure

What positions have you played so far for THE TEAM ?

Right field and 2nd.  Catcher a couple of times.

Do you have a favorite ?

Prefer the action at 2nd but enjoy the grass between my toes and sun on my face lounging out in right.

Is there a special reason you chose 14 for your jersey number ?

It's been my lucky number since grade school when I played on the basketball team.  Speediest high scoring guard in grade 5.  Hasn't won me any lotteries though.

Did you play sports in school?  What teams were you on and what school did you play for?

My parents, although not athletic, loved sports competition ranging from The Derby to NASCAR and all in between.  Embracing that spirit, I played basketball, tennis, field hockey, flag football and was a cheerleader for the Sherwood Saints ( yes, "When the Saints come marching home").  Stuck with just tennis throughout university representing the McMaster Marauders.  Oh yeah - and badminton (great fun!)

Besides your outstanding softball ability, what other talents do you have?

Finally!  Someone recognizing I am outstanding at softball ---- out standing in right field, that is.  Add golf, air hockey, ping pong and darts, scrabble, charades, cards against humanity... well, you get the picture.  Fun and Games!  I'm a Renaissance Girl - dabbling in a lot of stuff.  Acting, photography and home renovations being my favorites at this moment in time.  And when you ask next year, I want to add 'rockin out on the drums'.  Seriously.

Can I have $50?

Monopoly money - sure!

Thank You Sharon

Next up, Heather

Game 2 - Closer (not in the NIИ kind of way)

When was the last time THE TEAM was 0-2?  Who knows.  It would be easy to say that this whole E League thing is just some nightmare for a group of G League players like THE TEAM but...

"I don't embrace excuses"

Does anybody else watch Bar Rescue?  It's another one of those roaring asshole TV shows.  That is roaring asshole John Taffer.  Maybe we can get him to come by and scream at THE TEAM for 6 innings.  After that his experts can make THE TEAM something to eat and pour a few cocktails.  That certainly sounds better than blowing a lead and losing to Team Puma 13-17.

If there were cocktails the first one would have to go to Peter.  Peter hit two Home Runs and a Double.  Peter had 7 RBIs.  In two games this season THE TEAM has scored 19 runs.  Peter has driven in 10 of them.  THE TEAM is going to have to start drinking his blood or something.  Or maybe John Taffer's experts can make a cocktail out of Peter's blood.  Something All-American with a nice garnish.  What would it be called?  Say it with me people...   The Peter Lime.

ZANG!

Let's tip the cap to Mike for helping out doing a great job in center and driving in a run.  Also good job Dora for not beating the mortal shit out of the guy who took your legs out from under you.  Everybody knows you were thinking it.

You know who else we should get a tip of the cap?  Chris

Not a roaring asshole

Chris traded shifts at the Library so I could play.  Thanks Chris!
